Vipassana Meditation Center
The Vipassana Meditation Center lays in the mountainous region of Sri Lanka near the old king city of Kandy. It is easily accessible through a tarred road and offers a great view on the mountains and tropical vegetation. The complex is renovated and the garden is laid out affectionately. Altogether approximately 20 persons find space in the center. There is an extensive library and a gigantic meditation hall. The care, meditation-instructions and Buddhist discussions are carried out in English language. monch

Taking in guests

In the meditation center women, men as well as pairs can spend the night. Many monks stop for a while in the center, but there is no permanent convent. A very nice team looks after the maintenance and care of the meditations center. Every guest is taken in warmly into the community of the center.

Lodging & catering

The pale green lacquered Kutis (singles and double) are simple, clean and have a connected bath with a shower (warm water) and toilet.

The food is very good and rich. The guests are provided with full pension. The monastic kitchen prepares tasty vegetarian Rice & Currys, as well as fruit and vegetables.

Guest care and meditation

In the center is mostly a monk present who helps the guests with council and helps with the meditation and gives an understanding of Buddhism. You form the large part of the day independently. Taught is Vipassana meditation. Vipassana (Insight meditation) is one of the oldest meditation methods of India and was taught there more than 2500 years ago as a remedy against illnesses as well as an art of life. Vipassana means to see things how they really are. Vipassana is simple, universal and a method of self-cleaning through introspection. Through the observation of your own breath, of the physical and mental sensations, you recognize with time the entanglements and tensions of the mind. To recognize these and life as a constant flux of change leads to more freedom and clarity.
