Sokolski Monastery

The contemplative remote monastery of Sokolski lies in the Balkan Mountains on a steep rock between Gabrovo and the Schipka pass. The complex is very quiet, planted with many flowers plants and offers a great view over the surrounding nature reserve. Shortly after its foundation in 1863 the pretty closter church was painted from the inside and outside with mural paintings of Pavel and Nikola Sograf from Schipka.

Taking in guests

In the monastery lives a small convent of orthodox sisters. In the morning the services take place at 8:00 o'clock and in the evening at 17:30 o'clock and the guests are warmly invited to listen to the chants.

Lodging and catering

All together 6 double rooms are available (also usable as a single room) and 2 apartments (3 beds). The rooms are simple, clean and have all a connected bath with Shower/WC.

The meals are taken in the comfortable dining room. For food there is the tasty Bulgarian kitchen with many fresh vegetables, salad, and grilled meat and of course the famous Bulgarian yoghurt. In the monastery yard flows a well with fresh drinkable source water.
